Music Development Plan

Springcroft Primary School

Music Development Plan

Every child deserves the chance to sing, play, perform and listen. This page sets out how we plan our music provision across the school.

Why we publish this plan

As set out in the Department for Education's National Plan for Music Education, every school is expected to publish a Music Development Plan each year. Ours is refreshed as a summary before the start of each new academic year, and aims to:

Raise awareness

Of our music development plan and what it sets out to achieve.

Promote our offer

Our music offer to current and prospective parents.

Strengthen partnerships

Giving greater opportunity for schools and Music Hubs to work together.

What our plan covers

Curriculum music

Weekly class music lessons for every year group, covering singing, playing, listening, and composing.

Co-curricular music

Extra-curricular clubs, instrumental tuition and ensemble opportunities beyond the classroom.

Singing and performance

Whole-school singing, assemblies, and performance opportunities throughout the year.

Our local Music Hub

We work alongside The Music Partnership, the Department for Education's funded Music Hub for Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin, led by Entrust Music Service Staffordshire. The Hub supports schools like ours with whole-class ensemble teaching, instrument loans, and access to wider musical opportunities for our pupils.
