Starting Reception in September 2027
If your child’s 5th birthday falls between 1st September 2026 and 31st August 2027, you can apply for a place in our Reception class to start in September 2027.
Reception places are allocated by Staffordshire’s School Admissions and Transport Service rather than by the school directly. Applications are made online - paper forms are no longer issued.

How to apply
- Complete the online application form on Staffordshire County Council’s website.
- If you already have an older child at Springcroft, you will still need to submit an application for your younger child.
- Can’t apply online? Call Staffordshire’s school admissions service on 0300 111 8007 and select the school admissions option.

Individual Visits
Prospective parents are warmly welcomed to visit at any time before their child starts school - come and see what makes Springcroft, Springcroft.
Induction Evening
Usually held in early June, this gives you an insight into your child’s daily routine and a chance to ask any questions.

In-Year Admissions
Interested in a place for your child outside the normal Reception intake? Please contact the school office first on 01782 394793 or office@springcroft.staffs.sch.uk - we are very happy to help with your query directly.
- Complete Staffordshire’s in-year application form and return it to school.
- We will confirm the outcome within 10 school days (15 at the very latest).
- If a place cannot be offered, the letter will explain how to make an independent appeal.
Secondary / High School Admissions
Applications for a September 2027 start at secondary or high school opened on 1st September 2026 and close on 31st October 2026.
Please apply for every secondary school you would consider - including schools outside Staffordshire and grammar schools - as each has its own admissions criteria. Some schools also ask for a supplementary form alongside your online application.
Which council do I apply through? Some Springcroft families live in Staffordshire and others in Stoke-on-Trent. Your child’s high school application is made through the council you pay your council tax to - not automatically through Staffordshire.
