School Admissions — Online Applications

If your child's 5th birthday falls between 1st September 2026 and 31st August 2027, you can apply for a place in our Reception class to start in September 2027.

The easiest way to apply is to complete the online application form using the link below. If you already have an older child at Springcroft, you'll still need to apply and complete the form for your younger child.

Can't apply online? Call Staffordshire's school admissions service on 0300 111 8007 (select the school admissions option).

Applications open 1st November 2026
Applications close 15th January 2027
Staffordshire offers places 16th April 2027

Applying after the closing date? You'll need to contact school admissions by telephone only.

Prospective Parents Meeting
We'll be holding our meeting for parents of children starting Reception in September 2027 on  Wednesday 21st October 2026 at 6:00pm in the school hall. Individual visits are also warmly welcomed — come and see what makes Springcroft, Springcroft.

A note on high school applications
Some of our families live in Staffordshire, others in Stoke-on-Trent. Your child's high school application is made through whichever council you pay your council tax to, not automatically through Staffordshire.

The DfE blogsite has recently published a leaflet for parents: Primary school admissions 2026: How to apply and when is the deadline? that families may find useful.

Visits to School

Prospective parents are warmly welcomed to visit at any time before their child starts school. We also hold an induction evening — usually in early June — giving you insight into your child's daily routine and the chance to ask questions.

To arrange a visit, contact the school office on 01782 394793 or office@springcroft.staffs.sch.uk.

Reception places are allocated by the School Admissions and Transport Service, not by the school directly. For admission arrangements, catchment areas and appeals, visit the Staffordshire County Council admissions pages. Applications are handled entirely online — paper forms are no longer issued.

In-Year Admissions

Interested in a place for your child outside the normal Reception intake? Contact the school office first on 01782 394793 or office@springcroft.staffs.sch.uk — we're happy to help with your query directly.

You can then complete Staffordshire's in-year application form and send it to school. We'll confirm the outcome within 10 school days (15 at the very latest). If a place is refused, the letter will explain how to make an independent appeal.

Secondary School Admissions

Full details of the process are on your local council's website. [Confirm current-year application deadline and national offer day with the council before publishing.]

You must apply for every secondary school you'd consider — including those outside Staffordshire or grammar schools — as each has its own admissions criteria, and some ask for a supplementary form alongside your online application.

As some Springcroft families live in Staffordshire and others in Stoke-on-Trent, your child's secondary application is made through whichever council you pay council tax to.
